Hi,

I hope that I'm in the right place for this post!

I've been updating my KODI on apple TV4 since I side loaded it.

But I could not update the last one "kodi-20160207-629b015-yab-tvos.deb". I did get the ipa of that deb using IOS App Singer, but when I tried to load it to Apple TV4 using the Xcode I got this message:

" App installation failed
This App contains an app extension with an illegal bundle identifier. App extension bundle identifiers must have a prefix consisting of their containing application's bundle identifier followed by a `.`. "


Is it because the new Apple TV 4 software update or something else?
Please, can anyone help?

HI there im having the same problem i just buy a apple tv 4 from a friend and i try to install kodi and it won't let me .. the version of theTVOS is 9.1.1 can i still install kodi?

If you're getting a message about an illegal identifier you need the newest version of iOS app signer, http://dantheman827.github.io/ios-app-signer/

If you already have it post the log of iOS app signer after signing (it's under the view menu)

Certificate issues, there are quite a few posts floating around about it (apple had an expiring certificate on the 14th)

20160207 is the newest one that is based off Krypton
It doesn't work with skins but has the top shelf

20160114 works with skins but has no top shelf

There's also some other differences like some PVR addons not being in the 20160207 build but...

As far as plain vanilla Kodi goes there isn't too much of a difference usability-wise between the two builds...

I am receiving the exact same error. I have udated to r17 of the app signer. Installed the new Certificate, but it still throws up the "App installation failed" error that the op had.

Got it working now. I think I was still using the old app.signer.... Doh!!

I had r17 downloaded, but the one in my Apps folder was still the old one. I did also delete the old Apple Worldwide Developer Relations certificate from "system" section of Keychain access. I had the new one on place but only deleted the old one from login and not system. Not sure if this made a difference? Think it was the old app signer. (Although I am convinced I checked the version the first couple of times I tried!)

Ah well, working now, so all good.
