I am running Openelec 6.0.0. on a Rpi B model.. It shows an update available of the notification bar. How do I install the update and if I do does it wipe everything.

Go to Openelec settings (under System in the sub-menu if you're in confluence).
In System (on OE Settings) click on 'Check for updates.'
You'll be asked if you want to install 6.01.
When it downloads I think you'll get a prompt to restart (been a while since I've done it this way).
It won't wipe anything of yours, just update the operating system.
