v16 Unable to parse channel list
#1
Hi

I'm quite new to Kodi, but use DVBViewer + Rec Sevice for some years now. With the Kodi 16 Release I always get an "unable to parse channel list" error and the connection is lost.
kodi log shows:
11:16:50 T:7748 NOTICE: AddOnLog: DVBViewer Client: Checking backend version...
11:16:50 T:7748 NOTICE: AddOnLog: DVBViewer Client: Version: 18874368
11:16:50 T:7748 ERROR: AddOnLog: DVBViewer Client: Unable to parse channels. Error: Error parsing Element.
11:16:50 T:7748 ERROR: ADDON: Dll DVBViewer Client - Client returned bad status (1) from Create and is not usable
11:16:50 T:7748 WARNING: PVR::CPVRClients::UpdateAndInitialiseClients - failed to create add-on DVBViewer Client, status = 1

Any help?

Thanks
Jan

Please upload http://$rs_ip:$rs_webport/api/getchannelsxml.html?subchannels=1&rtsp=1&upnp=1&logo=1 somewhere so I can take a look. Make sure to replace $rs_ip/$rs_webport beforehand.

Well, Firefox complains the output is not well formed (not sure, my firefox runs in German, so the error message is different.
Here, what IE shows, which is not the full channel list ...

If I open the link without the options, just plain http://ip:port/api/getchannelsxml.html?
I get a proper XML reply

That's the reason why the PVR cannot parse the channel list.
However to further help you I need the full XML with all url parameters. Try downloading the XML using some external tools, like wget or a download manager. Common browsers parse the XML.

Argh

I found it myself

I had two channels with quite strage Data in them:
For example:
Einsfestival HD (AC3,deu)  ç ü Ü|E € "

Ok, if someone has this: dowload with the link from manül with wget and check for strange characters

There are some weird (read non-UTF8) characters in the subchannel entries of of "ServusTV HD Deutschland" and "Einsfestival HD (AC3,deu)".

Run DVBViewer, go to channel editor and search for the two channels. The first is member of the "FreeTV" group, the latter member of "FreeTV Dritte". Expand their subchannels and fix/delete the wrong characters. Safe the channel list. Stop + start the recording service so the new channel list will be loaded.
You can verify the fixed channel list with your browser. There shouldn't be any parser errors anymore.
