I noticed in the new jarvis that the default brightness and contrast levels are different then 15.2

Also contrast level really won't change unless you are near 100% or 0% for some reason. Playback seems a bit smoother in 16.0 however.

So can you tell me what changed in 16.0 what changed the overall brightness and contrast ratio?

I actually prefer the default in 15.2 vs 16

DX9 vs DX11 perhaps? Check the settings>system>video colour range. The default brightness and contrast levels in your skin may have been set differently if you've updated. Humm just thinking out loud, (Playback seems a bit smoother) check your acceleration settings, see if you still have hardware acceleration. Ensure tight cabling, and graphic drivers are not influencing with some sort of interpolating. Kodi has gone through some effort in the video code with the usage of DX11. Suggestion : I would get one of the public free colour calibration files and set-up all over again.

You know what I'm going to say here... 'if it's not broke, don't fix it'.
