Missing pi3-disable-bt-overlay.dtb required for kernel sound fix.
#1
Hi

There is currently an ongoing issue in the RPi3 kernel where-by if the I2S's soundcard's DSP is the clock master then there is a synchronisation problem with the broadcom transmitting the serial sound data in time to this clock. Or in English, the sound is garbled on our DAC+Pro and Digi+ products. The issue in the kernel forum is here

https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/issues/1321

The temporary fix (after installing the latest firmware) is to disable bluetooth. i.e. include the line in /boot/config.txt

dtoverlay=pi3-disable-bt

however this overlay is not listed in the 6.0.3 /boot/overlays and has to be manually installed as described on this thread from our forum.

https://support.hifiberry.com/hc/en-us/c...esn-t-Work

So looking to get this issue fixed by putting the p3-disable-bt overlay into the installation.

Thanks for all the help,

Stuart

Kodi is an application, not an operating-system, and this issue and its fix falls in the operating-system layer, not the application layer.

You need to address this to the developers responsible for the Linux OS distrobutions made for Raspberry Pi

http://kodi.wiki/view/Raspberry_Pi#Installing_Kodi

In example, if I assume that you might be using OpenELEC to run Kodi then you should address this issue directly to OpenELEC via their forums or issue tracker

http://openelec.tv

If appropriate then OpenELEC and other Linux distros for Pi will apply the fix to their kernel and/or firmware.
