Advise.
Apple remote on Mac Mini running El Capitan stops working on versions after version kodi-20160309-7b1467a-master-x86_64.
Failed versions tried so far kodi-20160311-d6bf680-master-x86_64 & kodi-20160314-f8afd18-master-x86_64 revert back to kodi-20160309-7b1467a-master-x86_64 and remote starts working again.
By the way this version 17 is soooooo sweet great work...
