Android HiMedia Q5/Q10 Pro (2016) with Kodi (4K / HDR / 3D / HD Audio)
Does anyone know if the Futeko version is the same as the other version from China? Or is the Futeko version of the hardware better setup for English as was the case with the Q5.

Thanks

Could anybody help to shed some light ?

Thank you !

When I asked this question in the Pi thread, I was told that even though my TV (LG OLED) has the chip in it, unless the media box has the chip, it wouldn't be able to process it. I get DV from the webos based netflix and Amazon app on the TV itself. Also, if you are using an AV receiver in between, the receiver needs to support DV with the chip too.

Check this Youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYiEK9W5-Ho

They seem have a Dolby Vision demo running, with a prototype Q5 Pro - this would imply no chip required on the media player, only at the TV (Assuming this was not a fake demo !)

Good discussion - I hope we get to the bottom of it.

Regards.

maybe was already implemented in chip ? but becuase of driver or other stuff disabled ? and NO, for dobly vision we dont must have on mainboard separate chip (but im suppose is possible in some case) i saw spec. detail AMLogic new model S912 a there is Dolby Vision

kodi work better than spmc with q10 pro . Surface rendering not work for h.264 and we can't hope koying fix this.

Actually they are even more noticeable now then before. Maybe it's just this video I will try another one later.

I agree. Me too seeing microstutters, and now are more noticeable ( from a single microstutters to a kind of step forward then reward and restart)

(2016-07-15, 18:25)aelfwine Wrote: About 2-3 hours of different 720p 23.976fps videos (x264 bluray rips). However I notice somewhat less shutters with imprex disabled but thats maybe just a coincidence.
I use 1080p 50Hz display setting (FHD TV) with 24Hz option enabled. Just like with 1.0.3.

However I don't think this has anything to do with the framerate switch bug. I think this is still the 23.976 microshutters on any resolution problem.

Also me too: i use same TV config, same 23.976 fps files. I think is same bug of 23.976 => 24 fps not correctly play.

Good. I'll try. But: if you set 24Hz to off, how it can switch to 24 hz with this kind of files?

Why do we have to (you can from movie -> hit menu button -> advanced options -> 24Hz)? At least they are playing fine this way.

Other question: why don't we see shutters on 60Hz with 23.976 material? If it's a rounding problem then the error should be occur on 60Hz as well. Or it's there and we just don't see it because the much higher refresh rate?

New firmware is now available through the online update on the HiMedia Q10 pro.

...eventhough, yesterday i tried with your settings (1080p60 24hz off) and 23.976 material on 60hz is continuing stuttering (on my Pana Plasma FullHd). So is worst.

Today i'll try with 60hz and manual setting to 24Hz when playing 23.976 video....

What is surprising is: why doesn't work play dvd files structure with wrapper in kodi. Is it so difficult to solve?

Got that feedback from other users as well. It's just great that it's not even occurs on every hardware environment. :\

You can try Auto framerate switching - HiMediaPlayer patch (I don't have it installed):

24Hz mode should be off with this.

Can one of you with Q10 or Q5 Pro test these video clips? The clips are encoded to HEVC 5.2 Main 4:4:4 10 or Main 4:2:2 12. Check whether the clips are playable in HiMedia player or Kodi (hardware/software decoding).

1. Golden Gate bridge 2160p YUV444
2. Golden Gate bridge 2160p YUV422
3. Golden Gate bridge 2160p YUV420
4. Golden Gate bridge 1080p YUV444
5. Golden Gate bridge 1080p YUV422
6. Golden Gate bridge 1080p YUV420

The original video is by Frederick Tschernutter. You can find hundreds of video clips like this on their YouTube channel: IRIS32FREE 4K UHD FREE FOOTAGE

It would be really impressive if the Q10/Q5 Pro plays clips 1, 2, 4 or 5.

On it... Big Grin!

Okay, just tested... they all play, and smoothly as well. This was via HiMedia (native) player, and f/w v1.0.5. Are we going to see real world applications of profile 5.2 videos, 1080p and 2160p?

Holy Smokes! I didn't expect that at all. The mighty Shield actually failed!!

No, we are probably not going to see any consumer world application of this. There is a user on nVIDIA forum who got the Shield to show his clients preview of his grade/edits. He was trying to play 1080p HEVC Main 4:4:4 video. Since the Shield failed, he asked whether there was another box that could play it. I had suggested HiMedia Q10/Q5 Pro.

* that is unlikely Tongue I know that there will be a (or two) stutter(s) because when I converted from R3D to AVI, by mistake I had used a 24fps timeline. The original video is actually 23.976fps.

Many Thanks. I had this info and i'm going to try asap.

Can anoyone explain me base differences between (or give me a good url to study):
YUV444
YUV422
YUV420

and what's the best configuration?

Thx!
