Krypton nightly - no apple remote support as yet ?

Good Morning,

So, the same behaviour as last build where the remote didn't work at first. I had to reboot - then cycle through to Kodi Settings --> Interface Settings --> Control and change the setting from "Harmony remote" to "Universal" (still didn't work) then to "Standard" (still didn't work) then to "Disabled" then to "Harmony remote" and voila, the remote then started working.

The Menu button on the Harmony works fine bringing up the Context menu when navigating the library, and the correct menu screen during playback.

In terms of the Kodi screensaver, this latest test build has resolved the issue.

Thanks for the quick turn-around.

Regards,
Andrew

Works perfectly for me out of the box on a fresh install.

EDIT: using the silver Apple remote.

Fixes screensaver-of-death and exiting ContextMenu is fine too still (all using silver Apple Remote).

However - VolumeUp/Down does nothing in fullscreenvideo.

Debug here - about line 1605 - nothing shows where I was up hitting up and down on the silver remote.

I also tried "tail -f" on the log as I hit the up/down vol - nothing at all.

Keyboard +/- is fine.

Hi,

My apple remote isn't working and I'm trying to work out if this thread is relevant to me.

Log file: http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/16411431/

I'm running 16.1 official release on a Mac Mini, latest OS - (uname -a shows 15.4.0), whatever that is currently called! :-)
I was running 15.2; I knew 16 was out so quit out of 15.2, discovered a couple of notifications that the OS needed updating so I did those and also upgraded to 16.1. Since then my Apple remote hasn't worked - schoolboy error upgrading 2 things at once. I've tried going back to 15.2 but still no joy (I'd backed up the Kodi directory under Application Support before I moved to 16.1).

So, going through this thread, is it likely that an overnight build will resolve my issue?

thanks

Not relevant to 16 (Krypton is 17).

Things to try/work through in no particular order

Try the camera IR test - dark room and point and click remote at camera
Unpair the remote
Try a fresh battery
Try TV/monitor settings - brightness and refresh and eco - oddly - high brightness non eco seems better with plasmas and even lcds generating IR interfearence ..
Confirm remote works on another mac (or buy another remote - hell they are so easy to lose we have 3 so we can always find one)
Confirm remote works with itunes or vlc
Do pram reset and an smc reset
Check IR port is not blocked or dirty
Try it from a distance of 2 cm
Mobe mac so IR port is shaded and/or is not in line of sight of screen
