Android How to switch from 4K to 1080p output when playing HD content
#1
Hello,

I have a question for Android TV version of Kodi, running on a Nvidia Shield TV.
My TV is 4K compatible, and my Shield output is configured to 4K.
But I'd like Kodi to switch output to 1080p when playing any NON-4K content (my TV has better 4K upscaling than Kodi).
I already enabled "Sync playback to display" (for 24p content).

Is there any way to do this ?

Thanks a lot for your help Smile

No, you can't. Android does not allow plain apps to do this.

Ok, thanks for your answer.
So, Android apps can switch video framerate (24p,...), but cannot switch screen resolution ?

Do you advise to put Shield output to 1080p and switch to 4K before launching Kodi for 4K playing ?

Thanks a lot !

Having zero 4K content, that's what I do, indeed.
Since we are allowed to set the Shield in 1080p, I basically only go 4K for tests, but that's mainly because my TV doesn't support 3D in 4K.

Sorry for kicking an old topic Smile

Are there any developments with this? And chance Nvidia will add (or has added) resolution switching for apps in their 5.x firmware version?
