4k resolution?

I've just bought a 4k tv and have downloaded a 4k movie but can't seem to change the resolution setting in kodi. The highest resolution setting I've got is 1080x1920. Am I missing something?
I'm running kodi 16 on linux mint.
Any ideas?

You are missing your Debug Log and basically everything the "Read this before posting" thread asks you to do.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.
