Hi,

My youtube add-on now crashes instantly I select 'New Search.'

I have successfully implemented the changes posted by jdf76 on the keys for the Google project. I am running YouTube video plugin 5.1.20.6.

These chages to YouTube went without error. It hen decided to install the forum browser. During this installation it asked to install a extended kyboard and I said yes to this.

After this installation the youTube add on now crashes instantly the 'New Search ' is clicked.

I have uninstalled the forum browser and the YouTube add on still crashes.

It looks like it is crashing when accessing the keyboard template.

You must have 2 versions of youtube addon installed. You say you are running ver. 5.1.20.6, but you are really running ver. 5.1.18e.
Not sure where you got ver. 5.1.18e from, that version number was never released by anyone who was involved with fixing the addon.
The youtube folder should be named plugin.video.youtube, not plugin.video.youtube-master.

Remove all folders plugin.video.youtube-master and plugin.video.youtube from /home/osmc/.kodi/addons/ and /home/osmc/.kodi/userdata/addon_data/

Once you remove / delete those folders, install youtube 5.1.20.6 again, you should have only the correct one installed then.

Thanks for the great reply. I have done as you advised and deleted the install folders. The YouTube plugin crashes in the same way I am afraid.

I am sure that it is to do with the keyboard install that I did with the forum browser. I uninstalled the forum browser when I encountered this problem but the keyboard code could remain ?

I would be very grateful for your further help on this.

btw I was directed to the 5.1.18e by a google search and it was from the github repository of raspberryrabbit.

Forum browser addon is maintained by Team Kodi member ruuk. Here's the github page.

You can try (Kodi 15.x and above) System > Settings > Add-ons > System > then look at the dependencies and see if you find anything with keyboard and uninstall it.

If you don't see anything, hopefully ruuk can tell you how to remove it. Short of that the only thing I can think of is wipe everything and do a fresh install of Kodi.

Problem Solved - Thanks to misty01 and ruuk. The Keyboard mod creates a backup of the keyboard interaction file. Rename this file which is caled DialogKeyboard.xml.FBbackup to the live version DialogKeyboard.xml and the problem is solved.
