What is your NAS Hardware? Maybe just test it in an VM with on particular video? Before you go the xpenology route.

I'm running open media vault, hardware core 2 duo with 4gb ram and 4tb storage.

I use openmediavault with no issues, using NFS to all my devices (linux HTPC and Nvidia Shield TV) and centralized mysqlDB on it

well I rebuild my nas with Xpenology and WOW what a difference, I also love how xpenology works.. thanks to everyone for helping me out its well appreciated
