Kodi remote control for Linux
#1
I am running Kodi on a RaspberryPi with a touch screen mainly using it to play music. However, I am wandering for quite some time, if there is any desktop application that can be used to control Kodi from a Linux machine. I know about the web interface, but would prefer something like the Kodi app for Android. A normal media player with capability to play Music locally and control a remote Kodi instance would be even better. Is there such an application?

You could try Kodi. Wink.
Kodi has the ability to play a file using another instance of Kodi via UPnP..

Settings>Services>UpnP/DLNA
Enable 'Share my Libraries'
Enable 'Look for remote UPnP Players'
Enable 'Allow remote control via UPnP'. (target client)

If you bring up the context menu on an item you should see 'Play Using...', Select the target and press enter.

Try that and see if it works for you.
