Win No sound "sometimes" when Passthrough enabled
#1
Hi,

I can not explain it but today playing a movie i did not have sound. After enabling / disabling the soundcard (sometimes it helps) i tried to play another movie and it did have sound. I then went to the system and audio and unchecked the Passthrough and right away the sound came back on the first movie where there were no sound. I have played quite a few movies in the last 2-3 weeks and this is the first time (i think) that this happens.
My settings is like this:

I had some lengthy discussion on my setup on this thread (link below) earlier and it has been working just fine until today.

Here is the movie in question and the codec info:

To me it looks like any other movie so i dont understand why it happens on this particular movie.
Any ideas?

probably will need a log file since no one can just guess what the issue is.

Sure i understand, i created a new fresh log, first playing another clip with similar coded and having passthrough enabled (sounds works here).
Next i played the movie where it does not work (Dirty Grandpa).
I first played with passthrough (no sound) then i disabled it (sound came back).

Here is the log:

The log shows allot of skipped packages and in the end (i think this strangely when i disabled the passthrough which makes it work).
19:14:04 T:5588 ERROR: CAESinkWASAPI::Initialize: WASAPI initialization failed.
19:14:04 T:5588 ERROR: CAESinkDirectSound::Initialize: cannot create secondary buffer (DSERR_UNSUPPORTED)

Hopefully you can read more into the log. My understanding of the log is limited.

Cheers

mine too. do you have AC3 Transcoding enabled in the passthrough options? and DD+ disabled. also i would switch any DirectSound stuff to Wasapi in both passthrough and the first option under audio settings.

Yes i'm using Wasapi (you can see that in the first link).

I have tried all the combination below Passthrouh without much luck. For now i have everything enabled since my Receiver (Denon X4100) supports pretty much every format like Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio.
