Discrete IR MCE Reciever
#1
Im looking for a new rc6 ir receiver for my machine. Ideally i'd like something small that can fit in a front usb port without looking out of place. Ideally like the samsung ultra for usb drives.

Does anyone have any suggestions. Currently i have a logitech one with wiring+box and its just clunky and looks out of place.

I've used loads of these : http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/windows-media-...trol-a49ha They are made by Rosewill. The IR receiver is like a small (but a bit fatter) USB flash drive. Fully MCE RC6 compatible - works fine on PCs and Linux (including Triple Tap in MCE which is a problem with devices that emulate a keyboard HID)

Same length but the MCE RC6 receiver is a bit fatter at the end with the sensor in. That said, if you have a black case it is far less obvious than the clear plastic of the FLIRC.

If you want totally discrete - how about Bluetooth ? If you haven't got Bluetooth built in then you can get tiny BT US dongles. The PS3 Blu-ray remote works really well with Open/LibreElec - though I've not tired it with Windows.

Yeah if its the same length as a flirc its probably better for me, wish flirc had an option for colours, I guess i could attempt to spray a flirc black Big Grin.

Might consider making a switch back to bluetooth or rf at least then a receiver can go in the back.

The issue is finding a nice bluetooth/rf remote that has the buttons I need without too many redundent ones. Having clearly labelled buttons with a tv guide/epg one is a priority. The xbox 360 remote I have is perfect and doubles up for controlling the tv as well.

The PS 3 IR+Bluetooth Blu-ray remote may be good for you then. It has IR to control TVs and AVRs and Bluetooth for the PS3/Kodi box. Great range of buttons - I think it's pretty much as good as an Xbox 360 Media remote (nicer buttons but no backlight) or an MCE RC6 remote.
