Library Database Structure

I've been using Kodi for a couple of years now, and it's alright I suppose, except for the library. For a media centre it's very restrictive on how the user can organize the library.
I've gone through the forum and external sites about organization, with some of the most convoluted methods I ever seen, that never really work in the end.
So I went back to basics and looked carefully at the library. It left me with one very obvious question to which I can find no answer, because as far as I can see, this is the cause of all organization problems, not to mention the flaws in that it misses out on some key fields, and media types.

Why are the database tables designed to match the website API data, rather than the API data applied to designed database tables?

Chicken, meet egg.

Edit: that being said, I agree that things should not be limited to what the scraper sites provide.
