Xiaomi 4K HDR 'Mi Box' (Android TV set-top box)
I've got one of these boxes on order. Can someone confirm 10-bit 4k files can be played in kodi from a NAS? I've read over the last few pages and it seems 10-bit can be played now with an update but I wasn't sure if this was in Kodi, 1080p, or via another player and also if it is off a NAS?
At the moment I'm using my TVs built in media player, to play 4k 10-bit but it can only play it streamed from my laptop not from the NAS (buffers every 2 seconds). Not sure if it's a NAS limitation or some transcoding issue that can be solved by using kodi instead of the TV media player.

@HTPCAsus, Simply download SPMC from the built in Google Playstore. You need a Google account to Login first (obviously)

@steslatt, Yes 10 bit 720/1080/2160p HEVC playback has been fixed. Works in all versions of Kodi now. The Android GUI must be set to a 4K resolution in Android settings first for playback of 4K content in SPMC/Kodi and have such content output at a true 4K resolution. Also SPMC may need a bigger video cache buffer and you better have good fast WiFi otherwise buffering is very likely to occur. Otherwise simply plug in a USB/HDD directly to play such content.

If you have a 4K TV, it has to support HDCP 2.2 (AVR also) otherwise there will be problems with 4K DRM capable media players like the Shield and the Mi Box. Netflix will spit the dummy big time.

Thats good news thanks. Yes my TV has HDCP 2.2, my wifi is gigabit so fingers crossed the NAS holds up.
Does the netflix app have HDR?

I was about to suggest those with Netflix issues download that DRM Info App and check whats reported.

I've never had issues with Chromecasting or using Netflix on my HDCP 2.2 equipped 4K TV (actually had to Firmware update the TV):

Using DRM Info App: (Working Netflix, latest Mi Box Firmware)

Google Widevine Modular DRM:
Supported = L1
HDCP Level 2.2

Microsoft Playready DRM:
Supported

Thank you!

With latest firmware i can't use TIMVISION.

I suppose it's a drm problem because if i try to play Trailer all ok, but with complete film error appears.

Back to previous all ok. Sad

I'm waiting for next update Confused

Over in AML LibreELEC Krypton we are using them to produce very good Video Sync results. In fact the best I've of seen for Kodi and AMLogic video ever. Smile

AMLogic Kernel patches are needed as well and that will likely take time to filter thru to AMLogic Android Marshmallow Firmware.

If you are an Amazon Prime Video member you may also want to checkout the Kodi Amazon addon when using that test version above.

Wow, thank you for this! I will keep an eye on these. I feel encouraged.

Q. To any Mi Box AVR owners...

Has anyone tested DTS Audio passthrough with the latest Firmware update ?

I've got a funny feeling with the 10bit HEVC fixes the backported AML IEC61937 passthrough code may also have made it into this Marshmallow Firmware update as well.

https://kodi.tv/kodi-v17-krypton-release-candidate-1/

A Krypton RC version would have to be used to test from here: (SPMC may also work out of the gate with its IEC Audio option)
http://mirrors.kodi.tv/releases/android/...bi-v7a.apk

Dolby Digital/DTS with IEC passthrough option in SPMC was working even with the previous firmware. In fact, DTS passthrough worked only with IEC passthrough.

Thx. wesk05.
Did you happen to test HD Audio bitstreaming last time as well ?

I've been playing around with the the AML Kodi Leia test version this morning and have Amazon Video up and running from within Kodi Smile
(WeTek's Hub and Play2 also work with this Kodi Leia and Amazon)

Just need a proper paid for Prime Login to test 1080p DRM streams properly.

HD audio passthrough didn't work with the previous firmware. With the new firmware Dolby Atmos/TrueHD, DTS:X/HD-Master Audio passthrough works. (tested on Kodi Krypton RC3 and Leia test build)

Do you have a link to this Amazon Video add-on. I don't think I know about it.

WoW !
Xiaomi must have included the new AML IEC Audio backported Android Nougat code in yesterday's Firmware.

Don't you just wish they would give end users a proper changelog for the Firmware update.

I'm now wondering with Kodi refresh switching still broken if its just a simple /sys/class/display/mode permissions issue like we used to see in previous poor AML Android Firmware. I might try and see if I can pester someone on the Xiaomi Mi Box forums about it. If we could root the device its an easy fix.

Not sure. It shows both DTS-HD RAW and 8 channels IEC61937 passthrough.

Wow guys , with last firmware , after complete reset i solved all problem with TIMVISION streaming app.

And with today news of HDAUDIO passthrough (Just tested with kodi17RC3), the only features we need is auto refreshing rate.
