v16 [Solved] Skipping video when "Adjust display refresh rate" & "Vertical Blank Sync" on
#1
Exclamation
I get skipping (pressing 'o' reveals the skip counter incrementing once a second) videos every second when playing 23.976, 24fps and 59.940fps videos when Vertical Blank Sync and Adjust display refresh rate is on. If the vertical blank sync is off, skipping stops but get the nasty tear.

- TV is switching to 24p when video starts for 23.976 and 24p videos as expected.
- Kodi is running at 60p, same as the graphics drivers.
- Have tried both Fullscreen#1 and Windowed. Doesn't skip if switch to Windowed but obviously unusable to watch movies having border.
- Tried fullscreen window, still skips.
- Tried setting graphics driver to use Driver for Vertical Sync, still skips.
- Tried setting refresh rate to 24 and 23Hz in graphics drivers, still skips.
- Tried all renderers, Software, DVXA, Shaders and DVXA2. All still skips.
- Latest graphics drivers installed.

Skipping doesn't happen with 25p, 29.97, 30 and 60fps videos.

Tech stuff:
Sony KDL-55W805C TV,
Kodi 16.1 Jarvis,
Intel NUC i3 with Windows 10.

Not sure what else to try. I can't disable Aero for Kodi as its Windows 10.

Might try going back a couple of Kodi releases and see if anythings changed.

Im open to suggestions Big Grin

Edit: Also tried changing audio to directsound or wasapi to no avail.

Could you try a v17 alpha?

Ok, I tried KodiSetup-20160529-0ecc4b5-master.exe. Still getting the same issue.

There doesnt seem to be a Vertical Blank Sync option anymore?

When pressing 'o', I see a new logging thing called VSyncOff. Numbers appears with this for the skipping videos. Seems to be random though. One video averaged around -13. Another would be 20. Don't know if that helps.

Right, this is always enabled.

When you press "o" you see "skips" increasing but "drops" not?

Please pastebin a debug log.

I see skips incrementing every second. Drops stays at 0. I can see the video skipping at same time the skip number goes up.

Here's a link to the debug log from Kodi 17 (20160529-0ecc4b5) playing Samsara video file: http://pastebin.com/DXLCvhWg

Going to try an older version now.

Edit: Clean install of 15.2 has same issue.

Edit 2: Can rule out the TV as it plays 24p on the PS3 with no skipping.

I'll ping our Windows dev. He might have an idea.

Solved the skipping issue!

The problem was f.lux running. (Changes colour temp over the day to ease eye strain). Completely quit the program and no more skips!

Hope that helps anyone who has similar issue.
