It's 4k HDTV time

Well there's no "similar" TV from anyone compared to an OLED. The OLED TV's are the best, hands down, so if you want to drop 5k+ on a TV sure get an OLED.

I have a LG65UH8500, and it's pretty amazing, but if 3D isn't important to you I'd recommend a Vizio P55-C1
Denon X6500H 7.2.4 -> LG OLED65C9P
Main:
NVIDIA Shield Pro (2019)
Other Devices: Apple TV 4K, FireStick 4K Max (2023), Homatics Box R 4K
Retired devices: Zidoo X9S, Xiaomi Mi Box, All the old RPi’s

+1 ... a minor thing, but I just don't care for Vizio's choice in using silver bezels of late. Black is better, doesn't stick out.

Results report:

Pulled the trigger today on a Samsung 55" UN55JS700D from Costco. Google says the UN55JS700D -> UN55JS7000.

So far, a quick poke shows 1080p24/1080p30/1080p60 are present. To check 4K, have to swap out the old Denon AVR-1912 for the new Denon AVR-3200W which can handle 4K HDMI.

Overall, pleased.

I just bought this Phillips 4900 series model:

Basic but works really well and the image quality is stunning.

Price was £329 so absolute bargain!

Beware of 4K TVs with 8-bit panels only...

The biggest difference from a color shade or range is 16.7 million (8 bit) to over 1 BILLION (10 bit) shades of color, and the HDR ( High Dynamic Range) and the 10 bit panel will help produce the "blacker" blacks and "whiter" whites.

Theres "no free lunch"....

The panasonic tx-50/58/65 DX750 its a medium range model (1500€) and its still a 8-bit panel and still delivery stunning picture compared with the high-end models.

@couto27, no.
There are very few true 10-bit panel, most are 8-bit+HiFRC, which in most cases are the same to eyes as true 10-bit.
A link from a reputable TV insider (use translate): setcombg
Some links about FRC: TftCentral and Blurbusters

I don't know if it's posted, a very good analysis of all current HDR standards: SMPTE
And another one: Spectracal

- http://demo-uhd3d.com

- YouTube ... use this free tool to grab

Otherwise, they've all been captures from UHD BD's & Netflix/Amazon using 4K capture cards/devices, so not 1:1 rips, which aren't possible yet. Some screenshots I've seen people post show banding, softness, etc., so not sure how good these 4K caps really are.
For youtube, you can also use freemake. It can capture 4K
