Live TV Recording - Time Seek?

How do I skip to a time mark with a being-recorded TV show?

Last night, I was watching the NBA finals while it was being recorded. The recording started 90 minutes prior and I wanted to skip to the 55-min mark. I usually can do this with a finished recording by entering 55 and then press the play button. But I couldn't do it with a TV show currently being recorded. Any workaround?

Yeah, I have never tested to see if this works but it makes sense that it probably doesn't. When you watch a show that is actively being recorded, serverwmc has to repackage the active wtv file as a ts file. Since it can't do that instantly, skipping ahead 55 minutes could fail, but f you wait a few minutes though (depending on the speed of your system) it should work.

krusty, thanks for the insightful explanation. I have a related question.

Can I time seek a .TS file (instead of .WTV) that is actively being recorded? If yes, which PVR would you recommend for a Windows PC? Or, can I run mythTV in a virtual machine? (If it helps, my setup is 1st gen HDHR + unencrypted QAM)

I asked these questions at MyTV forum: http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=...pid2360239

Yes, you can time seek in a .ts file. I have not used other pvr solutions so I can't recommend one.
