v15 cant connect to mythtv
#1
I have myth back end up and running, no issues that I know of. Everytime I attempt to connect Kodi to it, it says the backend isn't running

http://pastebin.com/CuUWmaAW

I've been using the backend from the web interface with no issue.

The log file on pastebin seems incomplete . There is information concerning startup of Kodi missing.

Also what version of mythtv are you using ?

In the pvr.mythtv addon please enable "Include more debug information in the log file" (this is in Advanced tab) and restart Kodi and paste a new debug log.

I trimmed the log, but I can get the full one.
Myth is 0.28

Trimming log files is not a good idea.

The full debug log with the extra debug information for pvr.mythtv addon would show what version of mythtv backend you are connecting to and any issues with such connections.

Without the full debug log I am guessing but here goes:

The official release of Kodi 15 was prior to mythtv 0.28.

You need to update pvr.mythtv addon within Kodi 15 for mythtv 0.28.

If you are running Ubuntu see http://janbar.github.io/pvr.mythtv/download/index.html for updates to pvr.mythtv addon

OK, running it on OpenElec 6.0.3, running Kodi 15. I have pvr.mythtv 2.8.4

You need pvr.mythtv 2.8.5 on Kodi 15 to work with current mythtv backend 0.28/fixes

As you are running on OpenELEC (official) - Version: 6.0.3, kernel: Linux x86 64-bit version 4.1.18, suggest you post on Openelec.tv forum about an update.

Another possible solution is to build the pvr.mythtv addon from source see http://janbar.github.io/pvr.mythtv/download/index.html

If you are very lucky someone may have a pre-built 2.8.5 pvr.mythtv that you can download

The site says "Prebuilt binaries are available for OpenELEC, OS X and Windows."

I just can't find them. But I'll head over to OE forums to see

I think the site text about "Prebuilt binaries for OpenElec, OS X and Windows" is out date, I have not seen any of those for a long time.

You could also upgrade your Openelec installation to version 7 beta 3 X86_64

I have just tried it and Kodi (now version 16.1 Javis) with pvr.mythtv (now version 3.4.11) works out of the box with mythtv backend 0.28 /Fixes
