Please be aware that the CE marking indicates self-certification. It is not assigned by a Certified Body, and therefore is not "forged". Basically it is a way for the manufacturer to assure the end user that the product meets the requirements of the applicable standards, but not necessarily that it has been evaluated by a third party.

In that case of power supplies, they can meet the minimum requirements of the relevant safety standards for the country in which they are sold, but still not be suitable for use with the end product.

Also from experience of some kit we've had at work here, look closely at the "CE" mark. Some Chinese makers are using a "Chinese Export" mark which is designed to look extremely similar to a genuine CE mark to a casual inspection but isn't actually one. A brief inspection of the circuitry inside the box clearly showed quite how hooky the whole thing was, just before it got binned.

We found this out at work too, customers telling us cheaper Chinese products have CE marking until you look at the mark and the spacing is slightly different meaning it's Chinese export mark
