Kodi nightly, iOS 'sideload' (no JB) often won't even open

This has been a problem for at least 3 months, it's super inconsistent.
If I reboot the ipad, sometimes it might work.
If I re-add the application, over the top, sometimes it might work.
If I re-download and get a newer or older nightly, re-add the application over the top, sometimes it might work.

I have no idea why this is occurring and how to fix it and it's gone on and on and on. Is any one person working on the iOS version, actually trying with a non jailbroken device? I'm curious.
NOTE: I had this issue on my ipad air 2 and my ipad pro 9.7

Note: I'm pretty sure I switched TO nightly from regular builds to try and fix the problem too. I'm not using nightly because I want to, it's because of the instability of stock versions.

BIG EDIT: Anyone? Seriously? What can I do here? This bug is frustrating as hell and follows me /intermittently/ through Kodi versions.
Is Kodi supposed to work on NON JAILBROKEN devices or should I stop bothering? Do you have an official stock iOS tester?
I blindly assumed that iOS is iOS .............. and once the software is loaded on to the device, it would just work?

What can I do, to help the development team, nail this problem? I know us "xcode users" are a minority but it seems ridiculous the iOS code would fail so blatantly, so often on a non JB device.

Bonus question, does anyone know how to _completely_ wipe my entire Kodi userdata directory (as well as the app) - entirely remove all traces of it? I know how to clear cache and data on Android but not on iOS
I think I just want to start from scratch.

I'm willing to endure the crappy 7 day limit, but this reliability is ,....... not ideal and I really am not a Plex fan.

Sadly, AbRASiON, YOU have just explained the reasons why I opted OUT of purchasing the $99/year Apple Developer license. There is NO information about what each "nightly" version has been upgraded from or to. I might have been able to swallow the Apple fee IF the stable .deb files for Kodi were available from the same location. My choice for this "problem" was finding an Amazon Fire HD 10 on sale at Best Buy. Good luck with your issues.

Bear in mind here, I can use a stable or nightly build of Kodi and this problem happens.
Also note it happens *within the same version*

Sometimes I reboot the ipad, load a of of Kodi nightly on and it works fine - then 1 day later this "crash to desktop / springboad?" thing happens - SAME BUILD OF KODI.
It makes zero sense:

* The 7 days aren't up yet
* It was working previously
* If I reboot the ipad it might fix it, so clearly the files aren't corrupt (both binary executable and end user data files / configuration)

It makes NO SENSE, this problem is the worst and it's so frustrating.

This is very discouraging to hear.

Same problem, again.....

EXACT FILE if you want to replicate it.
http://mirrors.kodi.tv/nightlies/darwin/...er-ios.deb

Infact I'd post the IPA but I don't know if it'll be signed by my free account and compromise me?
This is getting super frustrating, how do I ***___***ENTIRELY***___*** remove Kodi and the *userdata*
(I realise, Apple themselves are the fools when it comes to managing application data / cache space, it's so much easier on Android to manage that stuff)

Any idea? I want to nuke it entirely, then I can at least (sigh) set up a fresh copy and try again.

P.s this is 4 diff builds in a row not working now, it might be entirely hosed, despite this symptom being intermittent previously.

(Note, I've been able to do this under a Mac VM for months, it's not the VM)

remove it via tvOS.

not sure why people are having problems, I have several dev accounts including the one for mrmc. Never have any problems building/signing and pushing to a device.

I have an iPad Air 2 and have absolutely no problems with the Alpha 3 build of Krypton...

Do you have any add-ons installed?

Clean install or an upgrade?

And, to delete the app data (and app...) just delete the app from the iOS home screen...

I am confusing the backup and restore process on an iOS device with the app removal process.
(on iOS if you wipe your entire phone, then restore from backup, your data comes back, including corrupted data)
There's no such thing as a selective restore.

I will try a full remove and re-install of the application. Thanks (although a faster way to configure my media would be useful - the multiple folders and media types, is that userdata.xml?)

Thanks

I wiped Kodi entirely, loaded on this copy.
http://mirrors.kodi.tv/snapshots/darwin/...os-arm.deb

I installed only a single addon (the universal movie scraper, which is oddly not included?)
I added my TV and Movie librararies and let it update, which of course takes a heck of a long time, since there's so much content

I let it finish, quit the app.
Can't go back in to it, drops out back to the 'desktop' of the ipad.
Interestingly if I bring up the task switcher, the application is in the background, it's very weird, when switching to it, drops out.

Video of issue.

I've had nothing but issues with Kodi on an iPad Air 2 and iPad Pro 9.7, both tablets are not jailbroken or any weird stuff.

Okay...

Remove and re-install Kodi on the iPad

Go into Settings > System > Logging, and turn on debug logging

Try to close and re-open Kodi, does this work?

Add some media without any add-ons installed

Try to close and re-open Kodi, does it still work?

Install Universal Movie Scraper

Try to close and re-open Kodi, does it still work?

When Kodi crashes, use Xcode to copy the container data from the installed app (see Managing Containers on a Device) and inside the backup (right click > show package contents)
you should find a folder named AppData

The log files will then be inside of the AppData/Library/Preferences folder and will be named kodi.log and kodi.old.log

Please post both of those files on something like pastebin (but please don't post them directly in the forum post...)

Comprehensive stuff, thanks Man - it looks like I'm going to have to mess around a bit but I appreciate it.
I'll get on it over the next 24 hours or so.

Here we go, I just recreated a problem with Kodi, latest 'stable' build as well I think?

http://pastebin.com/UxFycHFE
http://pastebin.com/SA1Xh314

That was this build of the program
http://mirrors.kodi.tv/apt/pre-release/i...os-arm.deb
With OR without the universal movie scrapper addon, Kodi will die quite fast on a library update.

I also have the xcode crash logs for the device itself although they seem to contain a lot of private info (like my identifier) - would they be useful?
