HD Video Stutters on Firestick
#1
I'm trying to play some 720p HD mkv/m2ts/ts files from an SMB share on my home network (these are football games I recorded myself). The wifi router is a foot from the Firestick so speed is not an issue. The Fire TV I have with the same Kodi install plays these files fine. I see reports of people playing HD videos with no stuttering on their Firesticks, so I know it must work, I just can't figure out what I need to change to fix the stutter. Options I need to enable/disable? Use a different player?

Wifi speed might not be affected by range issues, but by simply hitting the upper max that the wifi hardware in the Stick can handle. In other words, even if you have 100% signal, that won't always mean you have a good enough connection.

That's assuming the stutter is bandwidth related, which it might not be. The first step would be to post a debug log (wiki) of when this happens on your Fire TV stick.
