Unable to see folder / movie art
#1
OSX Version - 10.11.6
Platform - MacBook
Install Method - dmg
Version of Kodi - kodi-16.1-Jarvis-x86_64.dmg

Detailed Instructions to Reproduce the Problem

I installed Kodi.
All my media is kept in a Hard Drive attached to a TP Link Router, which is a UPnP system. Model no. TP-Link B91C5A.
Went on to add the movies following this article. http://kodi.wiki/view/Quick_start_guide#...he_library
Added the “Movies” folder. However, I didn’t get the options to Set Content (Step 6 , 7 & 8).
I don’t see any folder art in my home screen. I do have the Movies folder added though and I also see the sub-directories.

Just to have a comparison. I do have Plex installed in my Mac and it works just fine with all the metadata for the movies, music and tv series, using the same datasource. I'd love to get this worked out in Kodi. That'd mean I won't have to run a (Plex) server ever.

Scanning into the library is not supported for upnp sources - share with andifferent protocol (samba or nfs for example)

I tried nfs but it won't open do anything.
Chose Samba. However, it won't show my network drive under the workgroup.
Tried to add a network location. It won't accept the credentials. Keeps asking it over and over again.
The creds are correct. The drive is connected from my mac using the same creds (attached picture).

It says permission denied. What Router is it exactly you are using? Does it run OpenWRT or the stock firmware?

TP-Link Archer C9. It runs on stock firmware.
Noticed the permission denied, in the logs. That's what stumps me. I use the same creds to connect from my finder, in mac.

I have the archer c7 but running openwrt where nfs works fine... Mhhh well it has to be some settings on the router. I never had a single look at the stock firmware though Sad.

You were right. It had to do my router settings. The reason why the Mac was able to access the folders was because, those weren't password protected. So, once the initial connection was made, it didn't matter. I was trying the same creds for Kodi. However, it didn't need any creds. To make it uniform, I assigned creds for folder access and it works fine now.
