Is it safe to delete temp/rarfolder ?
#1
I tried searching but I couldn't find any answer to this.

In my .kodi/temp I have 2 folders, rarfolder0000 and rarfolder0001 they are about 1 GB together. Is it safe to just delete these two directories? My guess is that Kodi will correctly detect that the cached files were deleted either on next startup or the next time trying to access them. But I'm not sure and it would be great if someone would know.

Maybe the whole .kodi/temp is safe to delete?

yes and yes. it should nuke them on exit, but if something crashed..

they are there since you played something from a compressed rar archive, can't do that directly so need to extract files to a tempdir first.

Thanks!

It looks to me like it depends on the rar files. Some can be played directly and some needs to be extracted.

But it doesn't matter, as long as I know the files can be deleted I will do so when needed. I noticed it now since I was about to take a backup before upgrading to the 17.0 Beta and the folder seemed a bit to large.

yes, uncompressed (stored, -m0) rars can be played directly, compressed rars need to be decompressed. you cannot seek etc in compressed data so no way to do direct playback efficiently.
