Mutagen
#1
Hi All,

I noticed that there was an addon in the repo (Gotham):

script.module.mutagen

With I guess is for mutagen

It's on a really old version (1.22.0) from what I can tell, which is from 8th Sep 2013. (Looks like the latest version is 1.34.1)

Does anyone know who added this and if there were any plans to update it to a newer version?

Thanks
Rob

Just in case anyone else stumbles across this post when looking for a Mutagen module, I have created an updated version and it's located in the robwebset repo:

I have no idea anymore who asked it to be added to repo. Feel free to send the update version.

Added it to the robwebset repo - that should suffice for my needs

Thanks

So you don't want others to get the updated version as well?

I believe we've been over this path before - I think I'll stick out of the official repo.

please do not distribute addons that are part of the kodi repo through third party repos.
we've had way too many issues with that in the past when superrepo did it.

distributing different version is even worse, as it could cause issues to all addons depending on that script module.
for instance, see: http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=...pid1790112
Do not PM or e-mail Team-Kodi members directly asking for support.
Always read the Forum rules, Kodi online-manual, FAQ, Help and Search the forum before posting.

I don't really like how rob's add-on threads (and the very topic of those add-ons) basically being held hostage, but you make the rules here, not I. I only seek peace.

If we can convince rob to use a different ID will you un-trash all his threads? Please?

Yeah, does seem rather weird to trash threads that have nothing to do with the addon that you are complaining about. I understand why you don't want official addons being redistributed with 3rd party repos, but that has nothing to do with the threads to different addons. People looking for and to give support get screwed.

I've actually made a request to have this removed from the official repo:

https://github.com/xbmc/repo-scripts/pull/268

From the pull request:

Quote:I'd like to propose deleting script.module.mutagen from the repo. I believe this request is consistent with previous deletions of modules as discussed here:

http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=...pid1587067

This module is no longer maintained, and is VERY out of date - having been bumped from release to release from Eden, there is nothing in the repo that uses this module and there is no longer a maintainer to look after it.

Thanks

Hello Rob,

I found out today via Kodi for Windows 10 Windows Store app that your addons are marked broken and your repo is a dead link.
Is there anything you are going to do about this?

Thanks,

Oh. I meant the wiki page for your repo is blanked now. I didn't see your signature

Hi Martijn, Ronie,

Please can you explain to me why the following was closed:

https://github.com/xbmc/repo-scripts/pull/268

I believe it follows the earlier precedent as I linked to and even the comment that Ronie made 2 days ago seems to imply this should be deleted.

This is again starting to feel a bit spiteful and one rule for some, and another for everyone else.

I believe this addon should be removed from the official repo for the reasons I specified - lets have some consistency instead of a bit of Kodi team face-saving.

Thanks
Rob

There is 1 option and that is updating the module and not a single other.
