Supply of copyright material via Kodi addon
#1
Hello there.

I have a couple of general questions about a Kodi addon that I've tried to find the answer to, with no luck, so I thought I'd just come right out and ask them.......

Why is the Whitecream addon supported and openly discussed without sanction on this Forum even though it facilitates the viewing and downloading of copyrighted material without the IP owner's permission?

Whitecream allows users to view\download non-pornographic mainstream movies as well - Christopher Gans fantastical 'Brotherhood of the Wolf', Ken Russell's 'Gothic' and Shelley Winters in 'Bloody Mama' all being made available in the last few days through it. Is this allowed by the Kodi\XBMC Foundation because the addon that supplies these movies is somehow "officially" tolerated by them as opposed to other (banned) add-ons that offer the same material but are not?

If I've somehow missed the point then my apologies but I've seen many many messages posted on here from people asking where they can find pirated TV and Hollywood material to watch and being castigated for doing so but when that material is pirated pornography then the answer may well be the Whitecream addon and a link to a Thread on these Forums on just how they can go about doing so.

Thanks.

I'm not in the position to discuss what's legal or not in WhiteCream or VideoDevil... Team Kodi does.
But are you really talking about those adult addons or about "White Devil" a potential blacklist candidate?

I've never really looked at this add-on, and in truth have avoided it. In the past it has been viewed and seen as a slight deviant diversion with only a few links to; otherwise at the time open web media. Give me a bit of time to investigate and see if the add-on has crossed a line, or the source has been compromised. I've seen a lot of web sources, 'YouTube' included that on occasion temporarily host posts that break copywrite.

If you want to cut to the chase then have a look in the Cat3Movie subset of Whitecream. For tonight's viewing will it be Dirk Bogarde in Luchino Visconti's story of the rise of a pre WW2 German family in the masterful The Damned or Audrey Tatou in the delightful family film Amelie?

Regarding pornography, to be balanced I would say some of Whitecream (Ultimate Whitecream to be precise) contains adult material that could very well be considered as 'free-to-air'. But it's pretty obvious that large parts of the Movies section there contain adult material that - if everything is indeed above board and legal - must be costing an absolute fortune in licencing fees to supply.

Wiping the tears form my eyes, (thanks for the tissue Ronie) I see this add-on is not in the vetted repository, but a forum thread link, so it's a tentative work in progress. I grabbed and installed it, and followed the links around, with the link path you suggested and couldn't find the listings you mentioned. There is a pretty large list of links, and I couldn't see investigating them all without some moral decay and a whole lot more tissues; but in general they all look like the same boring routine. I didn't see reasons to jump all over this. I have left the author a note, linked back to this thread with that regard, and trust he will not abuse the forum or his standing in this community.

My view point is NOT from the 'team' I'm merely representing my personal view point as a moderator, and user (trying to keep the peace) and certainly I don't represent any management decisions, which may eclipse anything I could say or do. I personally have no legal position supporting or denying, what might be construed as x-rated infringement, it's all the same to me.

My suggestion is to strike while the poker is hot, and leave the author a private message when you see repeat infractions of the forum rules with links, so he can facilitate and fabricate needed changes in the add-on to preclude any perceived issues.

Thanks for having a look at this, I'll leave things as they stand if that's OK with you and just let it go. With regards to X-rated material and the validity (or not) of the sources then if someone tells me it's all legit I'm like you, being in the UK my knowledge of USA porn companies is pretty poor so I don't know what deals have been done to make their product legally available through the Whitecream addon.

Sorry you couldn't find the links to mainstream movies I mentioned, I trial downloaded them to make sure they were really there but I much prefer my DVD originals, at least they don't have the the large Cat3Movie logo written all over them!

Just for the record...uwc is offering free access to premium videos (category scenes), full movie dvd rips (movies) and illegal 3rd party livestreams (cams and streams).
Even though its xxx you probably shouldn't ignore this.

I've already investigated this add-on, and addressed it in post #6 (the app is no longer installed on my system) and suggested a direct PM with the author with the exact specifics of violation. In deference to my earlier statement, and my suggestion which hasn't been followed up, how can I take action? I'm not defending this kind of slippage in any manner, just as I don't condon breaches on Youtube. We need the Kodi community to help ferret out issues with add-ons, repositories and assist authors who have yet to apply for the vetting process, it's a community responsibility if an add-on is to succeed.

Easy: bin the thread!

If you don't do it you will have hard time trying to explain people why you let them talking on this forum about this add-on and, in the same time, you forbid all discussion about add-ons like exxxxxx that have the exact same issue with copyright

Team kodi has already bin some support thread for way less than copyright infringment...

Simple > streaming is legal also with piracy addons, so that's easy now

This isn't assisting the author

When I've gone to lengths to show some impartiality, I'm not re-opening this until there is justifiable evidence and feedback, one ticked off user isn't going to do it, there is a procedure to be followed and I have suggested the appropriate action. But it appears more likely that this is the thread to be binned and from that stand point this isn't going to turn into an anti-piracy, anti-streaming conversation there is an exclusive forum for that.http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=117995
