Use USB drive to boot and run Kodi
#1
Hi

I cleaned out the house and found my Appletv 1st gen (Silver) that was not used for a very long time.
I tried to boot it up but the hard drive inside is stuffed and are making noise.

Is there a step by step guide for dummies on how to run kodi from a usb drive and bypass the harddrive.
Thank you for the help

Hi live4ever

I followed the link and are downloading the -- Install to USB: OpenELEC-ATV.i386-6.0.1-usb.img.gz file.
Should i just copy and paste it to the flash drive?
Sorry for sounding like an idiot but to be honest, i am a dummy when it comes to hacking and coding etc.
(I did have the 1080 crystal installed)

Extra flashing tools may be needed to be downloaded to flash the .img to a USB of HDD.
Follow the appropriate links to download the appropriate flashing tools.
