Kodi 17 Portable

I would have said the 2013 package... but if it's already in, then the 2015. sec.. let me see if I can tease out the package from the Kodi install. From the HOW-TO:Compile Kodi for Windows http://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO:Compile_Kodi_for_Windows

Kodi v17 and up: Visual Studio 2015 (Community edition is fine). Higher version might require some adjustments. You need at least update 3 to be applied to your installation

I am also having issues creating a portable version.
I create my shortcut to kodi.exe (RC2) and put the -p at the end of the target but when I try to open it I get an error pop up box saying ERROR: Unable to create application. Exiting.

I am running Windows 10.

Any help would be appreciated.

Where did you install kodi to?
Reason for asking - it needs to be somewhere kodi can write to, so eg 'c:\program files' doesn't work.

Well it does work if you assign admin rights to the shortcut if you have Kodi installed in program files, however it is indeed best to install outside of program files so you don't need to do that.

Thanks guys, I didn't realise that and it is in program files. I'll give it a go later. PS how do you assign admin rights to the shortcut? Not an option I've noticed before, is it obvious when looking for it?

Open shortcut properties > compatibility > Privilege level.

I can't think of a good reason for doing that though.

If you are looking for Portable Programs it is always worth to look at PortableApps.com. So there is at the moment the "Kodi Portable 17.3 Dev Test 1" version, which works fine. See:
https://portableapps.com/node/54938

You can install it also without the PortableApps-Menu - just choose yourself the Drive and Folder Blush
