PVR changes for Kodi 18
#1
Hey guys.

I didn't want to spam the newly posted thread with changes for v18.

What are the thoughts behind removing those 3 PVR guide views?

I asked me the same question, but then I realised that I've removed those views a long long time ago ^^.
Maybe because MyPVRChannels.xml is nearly the same, I guess.

I see.

The reason for asking is because I use the now, next and channel views very differently and removing them will result in losing some IMO useful info.

As the guide timeline in its current state serve all what you need from a user point of view, we want to reduce the amount of different hardcoded views a skinner needs to add for the PVR section. We also want to reduce the amount of code we need to maintain in our core for views only a small count of users will care about.

And as sualfred said every channel item holds the now and next guide info.

Thanks for explaining.

I'll think of a solution to adding missing info elsewhere.

Without knowing your code, it should be no problem to create custom window dialogs with a few small changes. All info labels are still available and a list container can be called with <content>pvr://channels/tv/*</content>.

Thanks, yeah that could be another solution.

Or I can just re-add the info and views into the PVR guide window. I'll cook something up.

It will probably end up even better than now. Wink
