Auto mounted sources like external drives that show up and disappear from "Files" view when you plug in and unplug them.
Viewers can browse and play these files in the GUI, I think JSON-RPC should also be able to access these files on the viewer's behalf, without requiring they explicitly add a source for them.
The JSON-RPC method "Files.GetDirectory" currently returns an unhelpfully generic error message when given a directory from these sources, until explicitly added, then it works as expected.
This is causing some confusion with the Play Random Videos add-on, which uses JSON-RPC as I need more info than xbmcvfs offers.
