Remote keyboard to kodi/android tv
#1
Is there a way to use my laptops (Linux) keyboard to remotely control and type into kodi or android TV itsself ?

Iv got ssh, ftp, sftp, setup, I tried teamviewer but the only one i could find that worked on my shield connected and displayed the screen but i can not control anything or send key strokes through it. Iv also tried the http controller but can not type with it.

I only have the game controller and the shield bluetooth remote stick so it would be very handy to be able to use one of my comps as a controlling keyboard.

I am aware of bluetooth keyboards that work with android TV but i thought id just ask this question before getting one.

Not sure about philips, but for sony you can use tv sideview remote app for the TV and there's also remote app for kodi that you can use for typing.

yea i had tried the default web interface controller already. I have now tried all the other web interfaces that i was unaware of but they still do not allow me to type on my computer and send them key strokes to kodi input fields.

Some do enable me to navigate around kodi (cursor keys, enter , backspace, etc) but if i want to search for something or type in a long URL this method does not work.I have to use the on-screen virtual keyboard which takes ages to write anything with.

I need something that can fill out input fields on kodi from my computer keyboard.
