EDL File not being read on 1244
#1
Hey Guys,

It seems my EDL files have stopped being read by Kodi for TV Recordings. I have used these EDL files forever with no issues. It seems weird as I didn't think ServerWMC would have anything to do with it. I figured Kodi would look in the same directory as the recording file for the same name with .edl extension. Here are some snippets from a Kodi log. It seems ServerWMC may have changed the method of sending paths? Notice the pvr:// and .pvr extension in the second example below.

Working (for TV Shows)
20:58:25 126914.484375 T:1487025056 DEBUG: ReadEditDecisionLists - Checking for edit decision lists (EDL) on local drive or remote share for: smb://NS1/Storage/Media/Videos/KidsTV/Doc McStuffins/Doc McStuffins-S01E01-Knight Time, S01E02-A Bad Case of the Pricklethorns.mp4

Not Working (for TV -> Recordings)
21:01:12 127081.328125 T:1419916192 DEBUG: ReadEditDecisionLists - Checking for edit decision list (EDL) for PVR recording: pvr://recordings/active/2016 Ryder Cup (3)/2016 Ryder Cup - Final Day, TV, 20161002_155902.pvr
21:01:12 127081.328125 T:1419916192 DEBUG: ReadPvr - Reading Edl for recording: 2016 Ryder Cup - Final Day

What do you think? I'll post full logs from ServerWMC and Kodi tomorrow.

Thanks,
Scott

That's weird. You are right serverwmc doesn't do anything with edl files, kodi does that all on its own. The 'pvr://recordings/' recordings thing is always shown in the kodi path for files, I have never looked into what it is about - but I'm pretty sure its normal. What was the last version of serverwmc you were running?

I was on 1237.

So I don't know what happened but I cannot reproduce the issue anymore. I changed ShareResumePlayPositionsWithWMC to false, reloaded the config file and it didn't have any impact. I then installed wireshark and started collecting traffic and then it started working as expected. I put the ShareResumePlayPositionsWithWMC back to true and it is still working. I have since rebooted everything and can no longer reproduce. I'll keep an eye on it too see if it happens again. When working correctly however, the Kodi log does not use "Checking for edit decision list (EDL) for PVR recording". Rather, it looks as below.

21:38:38 129327.867188 T:1441788832 DEBUG: ReadEditDecisionLists - Checking for edit decision lists (EDL) on local drive or remote share for: smb://xbmc:***********@WMCSERVER/Recorded TV/2016 Ryder Cup/2016 Ryder Cup-Final Day.wtv
21:38:38 129327.867188 T:1441788832 DEBUG: CSMBFile::Open - opened smb://USERNAMETongueASSWORD@WMCSERVER/Recorded TV/2016 Ryder Cup/2016 Ryder Cup-Final Day.edl, fd=10001

I do not see any difference in what ServerWMC returns in the ServerWMC log. However, when it was not working, I fired up Kodi on my laptop and it did not skip commercials either. Now it is working everywhere. Gotta love technology.
