Small Powered Hub for WeTek?
#1
Hello all,

Just a quick question, I did do a search on the forum, but most of the posts appear to be about big powered hubs to get as many devices as possible in.
I need the exact oversite, a small powered hub that will sit behind a wall mounted TV along with a WeTek Play - I have a 2.5 HDD enclosure and the WeTek only seems to want to power it now and again... sometimes it does... sometimes it doesn’t, I've tried different enclosures and different drives, it seems to make no difference - the WeTek just hasn’t got the grunt to power it consistently..

So if anyone has a suggestion or a trick for powering a 2.5" HDD enclosure for a WeTek it would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

G.

Is this small enough? I do not know the current rating of the power supply but hopefully it should be enough for a hard drive. This is the simplest option.

You can also buy an Y cable and hope it works:

Or make it yourself:

Cheers for the reply xtract47..

I did try a Y cable, unfortunately it didn't help. I think there just isnt enough power on the USB bus to correctly power a HDD.

I've picked up a small 4 port USB3 powered hub off of ebay. I'll post on here once it arrives Wink

One side of the usb cable is supposed to go to a small 5 V DC power supply, then it will probably work.
