i have used #0109 for a while now, was pretty stable for me.
Now i've updated to the newest and had problems with pvr (using zattoo mainly). Video & sound stutters randomly(+ out of sync), sometimes even buffering.
Already narrowed it down to #0111 (working) and #0127 (stuttering), but will continue testing when im back home
i'm using hifiberry dac+ pro with external power supply if that matters
any idea which # and what could cause it?

No, but if you pick the mid point between latest working and oldest not-working builds each time it should only take 4 tests to identify it.

nevermind, started testing again with #0220, same stuttering including #0216.
#0215 runs fine now for more than one hour playing livetv, but there is a sound "cracks" everytime a commercial/program ends/starts, this cracks also happens when i enter or leave a menu in gui (no cracks sounds when scrolling in menu).
reminds me of "keep audio device alive" sound when it turns off (tried changing to keeping alive always but no help)
gui sounds slighty differ after #0216 but cracks still there..

livetv problems might caused by this? tried #0216 again, small buffering after 3-5 minutes and then followed by sound dropouts with video stuttering

You are the one who is seeing the bug. We can't speculate if a change causes a problem unless you can confirm an exact nightly build where the problem started occurring and didn't occur in the previous build.

@HiassofT any thoughts? It seems like "kernel 4.14.y: fix DAC S24_LE support" is the only related change in that build.

I had a look again at the changes to the hifiberry_dacplus.c driver and while they still seem OK to me I won't rule out that I missed something. This particular driver is doing rather weird stuff, like manipulating PCM512x registers and using snd_interval_ratnum (to optimize rate selection?) and unfortunately I don't have such a card and the Hifiberry folks didn't react when I pinged them on github in the PR.

@adiadore could you please post dmesg output (run "dmesg | paste") after you got stuttering? It would also be nice if you could contact the Hifiberry folks and point them to this issue and this RPi kernel PR: https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/pull/2365

Edit: ah, and another thing, please post the output of "cat /proc/asound/card0/pcm0p/sub0/hw_params" while you play a video - this should give some more hints.

so long,

Hias
thanks for looking into it guys, will provide more tomorrow asap (wife kills me if i start this now  Laugh )

Thanks for the info! I've prepared a completely untested but hopefully working fix for it (details are in the RPi kernel PR). It should be included in tomorrow's testbuild, please report back if it works.
