v17 [BUG]- Kodi crashes on startup if pvr backend isnt ready
#16
@popy: You are using a lot of additional addons. Could you please disable all of them and report back. No idea what these addons are doing, but it could cause/be part of the problem. Please note that the crash happens immediately after some of these python addons get started.

If the crash happens no more if you disabled all of the addons, you could try to enable one by one to find out which one is causing the trouble. Not saying it is(!) an addon fault, just trying to eliminate additional error sources.

@popy: here is another test build (http://mirrors.kodi.tv/test-builds/win32...-crash.exe), still no fix, only more logging. Could you please test and post a debug log?

Here is a cleaner log,i have nearly disabled all addons before my reboot test.
After the 4th attempt kodi freezes on PVR init (as on my last tests).

@popy: here is another test build (http://mirrors.kodi.tv/test-builds/win32...-crash.exe), this time including a potential bug fix. Please test and report back. A debug log would be fine, even if it works now.

Good news!
Did 20x cold reboots until the WAF gotten very low because of prime time tv Big Grin
But, your fix is WORKING!
Not one crash within the 20x cold reboots! thx a lot!

I have uploaded a log to my google drive because i can not post more than 512kB on pastebin.
Here is the log: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4JpRMZ...sp=sharing

Can you please tell me when this gets merged into krypton branch?
Or is your build similar to beta 7 but with the fix?

thx a lot

Nice.

Plan is to include the fix in rc1.

It is beta 7 plus everything that will be included in rc1 (as of yesterday) plus my fix.

Me again [emoji3]

I'll running kodi 17.6 on one client and 17.4 on the other.
Sometimes after cold boot when pvr is starting (everything it shows progress at 75%), it crashes. The issue happens on both clients.

In the log of the 17.4 client, the last error is :

ERROR: PVR - PVR::CPVRClients::ConnectionStateChange - invalid handler data

Here is the full log: https://pastebin.com/5sdj71Q9
Sadly debug wasn't enabled.

@ksooo: maybe you can see something in the log [emoji4]

It's hard to reproduce but it seems it is the OP issue, just not so often.

Thx pOpY

There won't be any fixes done for v17 anyway so not sure it will be looked at
