High CPU usage on ATV4 - above 90% most of the time
#1
Got my Apple TV 4 as NY present. Installed the latest tvOS biuld via sideloading. But the CPU usage is really high. It's above 90% on 1080p content, sometimes it hits above 110-130% and there's a lot of judder/freezes. The H/W acceleration is ON.

Is this normal? What numbers do your ATV shows when playing high quality 1080p mkv files (10-20 GB per file)? Files are stored on the TimeCapsule - tired Ethernet and WiFi connection. My Intel NUC box with OpenELEC plays everything just fine with 10% CPU usage in the same setup. But the problem is with AppleTV itself - even when idle on default skin it shows 70-80% of CPU usage - this is too much!!!

You can see CPU usage by enabling Debug mode

Same here. 720p DVD's are ok but using BluRay disk images is unusable. Tried wired 100Mbps, WIFI 1300Mbps 801ac, but the same: extreme jitter, audio drops off, not matter what audio options I try, and the source computer only shows ~1-3MB/s on source disk array, which is 1300MB/s capable. Using NFS.

After days of experimentation with various network and audio options, I'm out of ideas.

Blue-Ray 1080p just won't play.

Your is a bandwith problem - it is fine with me, speedtest app shows more than 90 Mbit/s. The question is about CPU Usage - it is 10x times higher than it should be when playing H264 encoded content Sad
