Super noob question (sorry)
#1
All,
Sorry for the super n00b question. I've never done any real skinning, just made some tweaks to one that I've used.
I recently updated to Kodi 17 RC2 and, as expected, the skin isn't compatible. Kodi gave me a pop-up that said as much, and disabled it.

So, my questions are:
1) What do I need to do to enable it again, so I can make modifications so that I can resolve whatever is wrong with it.
2) What can I look at to determine the incompatibility, and fix it? I reviewed the changes thread, but it doesn't seem obvious to me on where to begin.

Thanks!

start by updating the xbmc.gui dependency in addon.xml
that will keep kodi from disabling the skin.

next you will have to go through the skin changes thread.
everything that's listed as 'new' is most of the times optional,
but you do want to have a look at all the changes that are either 'changed' or 'removed'.

and pretty much all of the changes to .xml files are mandatory.

also, check your Debug Log for errors/warnings, that might give you a clue of what's going wrong.
Do not PM or e-mail Team-Kodi members directly asking for support.
Always read the Forum rules, Kodi online-manual, FAQ, Help and Search the forum before posting.

For what it's worth, I had to go into Addon26.db and set the skin to enabled again.
Once I did that, and made the xbmc, gui change, I could select the skin.

At that point it logged errors in kodi.log so I could begin to repair it.
