Branded a pirate for using Kodi (BBC)
#1
Hi, I don't know if anyone else read this BBC article but it annoyed me. They mention Kodi as a piracy platform which I know it is not intended to be, quotes below.

"The letters do not include illegal streaming services such as Kodi"

"But many newer forms of consuming content free, such as streaming and cyber-lockers, are not included. Neither is Kodi and other set-top box software that allows users to stream pirated movies, sport and TV programmes."

I use it for storing legitimate media such as music and online video content such as youtube while getting cool graphics and fan arts generated by the community.

Does anyone else feel like this brands all kodi users as a pirate and goes against everything the kodi team have been recently working towards.

Thanks
Squeeky

It's just lazy journalism, you could substitute the word Kodi for VLC, Chrome, Firefox or whatever you want. But in the current climate the Kodi name is already associated with piracy and "Kodi boxes" anyway so this is not really any more damaging than any other article. Maybe it's time to change the name of the software again, or perhaps every new iteration could have a new name instead of just a codename, either way the Kodi name has already been tarnished a long time before this article came along.

It's been corrected:
Quote:Correction:
A caption in this article had indicated that Kodi itself was illegal, but was meant to refer to third-party add-ons for the platform that provide access to pirated content. Kodi itself is free software designed to let users access legally owned videos, music, games and other media in a single location.

Boy, you're so easily annoyed.... I dunno how you get through the day when you get annoyed so easily.. are you involved with Kodi project in some way, 'cause you're annoyed by simple article?

I agree it is annoying, which is why contact was made and the retraction resulted.
