i'm using archlinux and installed python 2.5 instead of 2.4.
it won't compile with python 2.5 without changing in the configure file to 2.5
isn't there a way to make both of them compatible with xbmc?

Not currently. Once we have some time under our hands we'll move to Python 2.5 and dump 2.4.
