There is great site for Amazon Fire TV devices, where you can read or learn how to sideload Kodi, since it is "removed" from Amazon store.

As well, you can try great fork of Kodi called SPMC.

I've never tried to "jail break" my Fire TV... Sideloading Kodi is really something that takes about 5min. Very simple and there are a bazillion instructions out there with different ways of accomplishing the task. I will say, the only one I've tried that I *did not* like, was using ES File explorer. It's just awkward to me. It probably works fine, but trying to download w/ ESFE, etc.. I just had problems.

I use Linux rather than Windows, but I typically use "method 1" in this Link. It should be the same on either OS.

The fact that people insist upon calling sideloading Kodi onto an otherwise unmodified Fire TV box "jailbreaking" is one of those things that annoy me to no end.

As well, you don't "jailbreak" Android.

I cannot recommend any Amazon Hardware if you need audio passthrough to work properly with Kodi Krypton onwards.

There are a bunch of upset Amazon and Sony Android TV users in the following thread, because the Android OS on their hardware does not meet the Google IEC Android audio standard used in Kodi Krypton:

For that reason I can only recommend the nVIDIA Shield, or the Xiaomi Mi Box if on a tight budget.
