Hi,

I just upgraded to Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS (xenial). Then I followed the instructions on the kodi.wiki to install kodi again - the newest version I wanted to have! So after installation of Kodi 17.0 I wanted to activate the TVHeadend Add-on. as soon as I click activate Kodi crashes!!

Then Kodi is not even able to start again! I pasted the crashlog here:

When I delete the Addons27.db in .kodi/userdata/Database it starts again but same happens as soon as I activate tvh.pvr!

any help? Ideas?

If you are updating kodi to 17 final then you will also need to update the pvr hts addon.

This crash is not related to pvr hts or live tv at all. It happens, because you were quitting Kodi while a video scraper was running. Ofc this is a bug, but as I said, unrelated to the original problem you reported here.

The crash log looks totally weird, seems that the add-on is incompatible. It tries to report channel groups back to Kodi using the respective callback function, but what actually gets called in Kodi is the completely wrong function. But normally, add-ons with an incompatible API version won't load at all... Very strange.

If you can reproduce the issue, please enable debug logging and post the debug log. The log you supplied does not contain debug info, thus I have not enough data to figure out more about the problem.

Is this Kodi final from Team Kodi PPA?

thanks for digging into ... weird problem .... sounds strange.
Will activate the debug logging ... as soon as my wife is letting me use Kodi again as she is pissed and using the crappy cable box again!

Actually I still think its related to the PVR add-on as soon as I activate the tvheadend add-on Kodi crashes and does not start again. I did not activate any other add-on - complete fresh installation!

will come back as soon as i have a log file!

and yes - its from the final Team Kodi PPA.

remove and purge kodi-pvr-hts and kodi-pvr-tvheadend-hts
Then reinstall kodi-pvr-tvheadend-hts

Your version should be pvr.hts.so.3.4.17, for Ubuntu 16.04.02 and Kodi 17 , not pvr.hts.so.4.0.1

hi thanks for the feedback! Actually - just to complete that thread - I need to do a complete fresh installation. had to rip the complete HTPC apart and nothing seemed to work anymore. I will do a complete new installation of Ubuntu 16.04 LTE and the a new installation of Kodi. Then I will also take care of the correct version of pvr.hts add-on!

FYI

I followed this guide to install the server - http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=231955
but changed the repository to the final - sudo add-apt-repository ppa:team-xbmc/ppa and skipped the section to add the wsnipex vaapi ppa.

Then I installed TVHeadend using the deb https://dl.bintray.com/tvheadend/deb xenial unstable repository,

After completing the TVHeadend wizard , I installed the Kodi Addon kodi-pvr-tvheadend-hts, added my TVHeadend User name and password and enabled.

It did crash on me once last night.
After watching a movie I went to Live TV, and it crashed, but the channel I selected was not coming in.
I have seen this happen with Kodi 16 and Ubuntu 14.04
