Cant open Kodi after download, get error
#1
Hi,

When I try to start kodi on my windows 7 laptop I get this error "the program can't start because api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll is missing from your computer"

Ive tried multiple uninstalls/reinstalls, and checking for new windows updates.

This is the first time ive tried to use Kodi on this computer.

Any ideas?

Cheers,

Your virus checker may be sandboxing the application.

I'm having the exact same issue. First time installing it on my laptop. and also not sure what "sandboxing" means. Ive turned Norton off but not sure that's the right thing to do. Any advice?

Make sure you have the Service pack1 update, The problem is that the KB2999226 (Universal CRT) which is part of the Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 failed to install. Be sure you have permissions, and try again.

Download the Visual C++ Redistributable: if needed.

For Windows 64-bit
Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2017 (64-bit)

For Windows 32-bit
Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2017 (32-bit)

Sandboxing is when your o/sor virus checker hides code from the install that it deems might be harmful.

Cheers Patk, downloading that file worked. Now im having issues with the music box add on. Everytime i try to play a song it gives me the same recorded message of some foriegn guy talking for about 10 seconds. Sounds like an error message. Any ideas?

Gadszooks, a third party app talking to you in a foreign language doesn't sound like something you picked up in the official repository. Please be aware of the Official:Forum rules/Banned add-ons (wiki) and third party stuff. https://kodi.tv/warning-be-aware-what-ad...u-install/ most likely some site to register and ask for money.

Stick with add-ons that are directly available through the official repository.

I think Visual Studio 2017 is just now at "RC" status, estimated release in March? At any rate I think VC++ redistributable for VS 2015 (x86) suffices for Kodi.
