When using Kodi quite often other programs get stuck, the cursor stops blinking, so I have to ALT+TAB and that seems to fix it for a few minutes. Then it does it again.

What 'other programs', get stuck. If you have a lot of processes in the background, depending on the priority, some tasks can be held back. If you think it's Kodi behind the issue, let's have a proper debug log pasted to a public pastebin and that URL linked back to this thread.
