v16 How to open particular stream in DVDPlayer instead of PAPlayer?
#1
Hi,

Since a long time I can't open some internet music streams in PAPlayer and have to use DVDPlayer. Good example is http://waw03.ic1.scdn.smcloud.net/t041-1.aac . If I try to open it in default PAPlayer KODI always hangs and I have to restart it (systemctl restart kodi). On the other hand http://stream4.nadaje.com:9240/prw works flawlessly. Is there a way to automatically use DVDPlayer for particular streams only, while leaving PAPlayer as default player?

P.S. I'm on RapsberryPi 2 with OpenElec 7.0.1 and Hifiberry Digi.

I can reproduce the issue in Krypton. This seems to be down to the audio player throwing the stream at TagLib to scan metatdata, and since TagLib v1.9 it gets indigestion with streams. We have a patch on TagLib to fix in v17.0. but obviously it is not solving the whole issue. I am looking into a fix for Krypton.

Another user complaining about .acc streams here http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=...pid2535756

Meanwhile I don't think there is any player workaround like you suggest.

EDIT:
But I don't get the issue with v16 (on win32 = TagLib 1.9.1).
Ah, it seems that OE7.0.1 although Kodi v16 has TagLib 1.11.1 (no patch), that explain it.

Hi,

In my case it's not only aac but mp3 too. Below are examples:

http://stream.radiojazz.fm:8000/radiojazzfm-hi.mp3

Ogg seems to be working properly

Yes that makes sense using OE7.0.1, as it deployed TagLib 1.11.1 (unpatched)

I have a PR up to fix this, the solution will appear in LibreElec in due course once it is merged

Opened an issue in OE, but looking at their update cycle this can take months...

I enthusiastically recommend switching to LibreElec, it is what I use at home on my RPi. The slow release cycle is one reason why many of the OE team left to work on LE instead. See https://libreelec.tv/

Used it for a while then returned back to OE, now don't even remember for what reason. Most probably some stability issues, but not sure. Is it compatible with OE? I mean mainly hardware compatibility - I'm using Hifiberry DiGi and GPIO IR remote with customized remote.xml, lircmap.xml and IR keytable and most probably many other customizations I even forgot about. Don't want to create it all from scratch.

P.S. Will it be possible to easily revert to OE again? Not sure if TVHeadend worked in LE.

Dare I say get another SD card and try it out, you won't lose anything that way.

Copy customized xml files, install Confluence skin from repo (if using that, new default is estuary). I found converting very easy, but I don't dev for LE just use it so you will have to ask on their forum for any hardware details etc.

Nevermind, just did it. Smile Only issue I have so far is double keypresses from my remote, but I hope I'll be able to fix this.

P.S. Now at least mp3 music streams are working.
