Hi!
Start my XBMC with the " ./XboxMediaCenter -fs" command, but it will not stick to fullscreen. After a second or so, it goes back to window-size, and I can see the toolbars at the bottom and top.
Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for searching first...
Set the display resolution to "Desktop"

I did search first, tried that already, and that did not help me....
Also tried 720p and auto, same issue.

it actually toggles back and forth between fullscreen and window a couple of times (3 to be exact), and then settles on window. Hitting \ puts it back to window only, hitting \ again gives the same toggle between full and window.

Try disabling compiz (the visual effects thing in gnome/ubuntu) if it's enabled. I get a similar behaviour if I start XBMC with compiz enabled.

Tried disabling Compiz, and now it is working like a charm!
x.264 in 720p is smooth and the CPU-cores are averaging just below 10% load.

Disabling Compiz was also an effective solution for getting the flickering on my screen to stop. Double thanks.

Weird, I've got that enabled and a cute neon glow around windowed programs, only once have I had XBMC switch to windowed mode on me and nto go back - that only after I connected with VNC and it saw the mouse <shrug>
