in xbmp, there is a way to remove unused buttons from the mainscreen...i mean, in config.xml you can choose <visible>false</visible> or <visible>true</visible> to make it much more "cleaner". i only use "games", "movies" and "options" right now...so can it done by xbmc too?

there is no option for this but you can edit the skin and remove the buttons you don't wan't. look in your skin folder for home.xml.
