Here's what worked for me. (For Windows 10 machines)

1. Uninstall previous or current version of KODI completely using the uninstaller.

2. Go to File Explorer. Click on the empty section of the address bar such that you can type the following command
C:\Users\Your Username\%AppData%

3. Find the Kodi folder.

4. Delete the whole Kodi folder. (Dont be alarmed if it says 8000+ files will be deleted!)

5. Close File Explorer.

6. Restart system.

7. Download and Install KODI from http://kodi.tv/download

8. Reinstall all addons from scratch

These steps worked for me!

It's not C:\Users\Your Username\%AppData% but just %appdata%

%appdata% is a shortcut for C:\Users\{your currently logged in username}\AppData\Roaming , which is the folder in which you'll find the Kodi folder where all add-on and user settings and data are stored for a normal install.

For a Windows Store install, you need to use %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\XBMCFoundation.Kodi_4n2hpmxwrvr6p\LocalCache\Roaming instead, but the principle and procedure is the same (the Kodi folder and its content there is exactly the same, just stored in a different place due to the different install method).

@breightmet - your two posts have been removed.

Fresh start is a banned add-on (wiki) and is from a repo full of all sorts of nasty stuff.

Any device in which it is installed is in violation of the forum rules (wiki) and is ineligible for support here. Please do not promote such junk.

That add-on is not required anyway, as the procedure for resetting Kodi on Windows is not difficult at all (just removing the Kodi folder in the %appdata% tree as mentioned above).

You haven't enabled debug logging.
You can find the instructions at Log_file/Advanced#Turn_on_debugging_using_a_file_.28advancedsettings.xml.29 (wiki)

Have set up folder as requested
Tried opening Kodi.
Kodi.log file did not appear to update.
I deleted file and tried to open Kodi again.
No files created at all now.
This is really starting to frustrate.

Hi vgygggvy,

I'll try and help you. Firstly, you say you have set up a folder as requested. What folder have you set up?

Hello and thanks,

Enabling debug logging - advancedsettings.xml file with following content:
<advancedsettings>
<loglevel>2</loglevel> <!-- Change this to "1" to hide the on-screen debug log text -->
</advancedsettings>

Ok, you mean file not folder.

If you downloaded Kodi from this site, then you will put the file here... All those directories should already be on your computer, you just need to put the advancedsettings.xml file in there.

C:\Users\Your User Name\AppData\Roaming\Kodi\userdata\advancedsettings.xml

Once you have done that, try and start Kodi.

After it starts and shuts down, you then need to go to...

C:\Users\Your User Name\AppData\Roaming\Kodi\

In there you will see a file named "Kodi.log"

Open it with notepad.

Copy all the contents of the file

Then go to https://pastebin.com/ and paste the contents of the file into the New Paste box

Press "Create New Paste"

When the screen refreshes with your new paste, copy the address in the address bar and paste it in a message here.

Excellent note which confirms I have taken the correct actions.
My issue is in address C:\Users\Your User Name\AppData\Roaming\Kodi\ there is no file named "Kodi.log" now.
Think I'll uninstall Kodi and re-install again.
Get back to you once I've done this.
Thanks for your help much appreciated.
