OS X Audio Passthrough option not showing in Mac OS Sierra
#1
Sad
Hi guys,

I hope you're all having a beautiful day.

I m having a hard time here trying to setup 5.1 sound in Kodi.
I m running mac Os 10.12.3 on mac pro 2013 and outputting 5.1 through my Motu ultralite mk3 device, which is configured in both 2.0 and 5.1 in the audio midi setup of mac os.
Also in the video player, it says it s sending 5.1 AAC, but i get only stereo coming out.
I was going to adjust the audio passthrough in Kodi like suggested in the forums, but sadly this setting is invisible here.
Strangely:

and the rest displaying number of channels: 2.0 as advised in the other posts

Huh
If any of you know what to do, i could use the help Smile

Thanks and allll the best!

Here s the log file
https://paste.ubuntu.com/24347472/
It says 'no passthrough capabilities' for the sound card
Ho can i change that?
Because 5.1 works perfect here with dvds and any audio software (Logic, Pro Tools, etc), I dont see why it doesnt work with Kodi Sad
Thanks!

Now trying to pass audio / video through VLC as an external player with this file in the user/Library/Application Support/Kodi/userdata/playercorefactory.xml
"<playercorefactory>
<players>
<player name=“VLC” type="ExternalPlayer" audio=“true” video="true">
<filename>/Applications/VLC.app/Contents/MacOS/VLC</filename>
<args>"{1}" /fullscreen /close</args>
<hidexbmc>true</hidexbmc>
<hideconsole>true</hideconsole>
<warpcursor>none</warpcursor>
</player>
</players>
</playercorefactory>
"
But Kodi doesnt find VLC :'(
I m quite desparate here to find a working solution to get the 6 audio channels out to my speakers through coreaudio, is there any alternatives to the few things i tried?
I also tried Soundflower and PulseAudio but no success

Ahh another studio hardware - well lets hope it works - configure it as follows:

Select the audio device
MOTU UltraLite mk3 Hybrid (Channels 3 - 10)
Set speaker layout 5.1

Passthrough can't work because there is no audio decoder in that hardware ... your speakers have to be connected at channel 3 - 8 then I guess ...
